Why Mental Health Peer Support Struggles with Co-Occurring ADHD

- Practical Strategies to Improve Outcomes

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is frequently underrecognized in behavioral health settings, particularly when it is co-occurring with mental health disorders. When unaddressed, ADHD-related challenges in executive functioning, emotional regulation, and attention are often misinterpreted; negatively impacting engagement, retention, and recovery outcomes.

This interactive 3-hour workshop is grounded in evidence-based and strengths-focused approaches. The session translates current research on ADHD into practical, real-world strategies that can be immediately applied in peer and community-based settings.

Real World Application

Through instruction, scenario-based application, and structured skill practice, attendees will learn concrete, strengths-based tools that integrate evidence-based approaches from both peer support and ADHD-informed care. Drawing from Executive Functioning skill development, CBT approaches, and other evidence-based applications, participants will apply techniques aligned with Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) principles and recovery values.
