Program Overview

Career Ready Minds is a workforce readiness program designed  for Certified Peer Specialists who want to to improve their professional skills. Established in 2011, this program provides Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) with hands-on experience following their CPS training. Its primary goal is to enhance their skills and ensure they are job-ready. The program boasts an 80% retention rate for CPSs securing and maintaining employment, while the remaining 20% choose to further their education with a focus on behavioral health. By applying what was learned in the CPS training to real world circumstances, participants will gain experience in the use of professional tools such as e-mail, case notes and incident reports while improving their written and oral communication skills. While using simulation training, they will gain familiarity with workplace procedures, etiquette, and professional standards.

By working with MHP’s Information and Referral program, participants will expand their knowledge of the behavioral health system and directly engage with persons in recovery and professional colleagues. This is a 4-week program: 5 hours per day/3 days per week.
