Course Description

This evening/Saturday class schedule offers you the opportunity to obtain up to 3 PCB certifications together, or individually.

The CPS Certification Training is a 75 hour course, delivered live (in-person) weeknights and Saturdays in August 2023.  The training provides foundational knowledge, skills and values that equip individuals to work as Peer Supporters in the state of Pennsylvania. Includes WRAP Certification.

The additional 12 hour LGBTQ+ Specialization training will enhance the participant’s comprehension and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, including and not limited to terminology, overall stigmas and issues, solidarity models, and power dynamics.  This portion of the training is held online via ZOOM on Friday evenings with a live instructor.

Successful completion of the CPS Certification course renders the learner eligible to sit for the PA Certification Board exam, which is required for full certification. 

Certifications: Certified Peer Specialist (75 hour), WRAP I (16 hour), LGBTQ+ SPecialization (16 hour).

  • Am I required to be a member of the LGBTQ Community to take this course?

    No! Those who wish to build better relationships with LGBTQ peers as well as current allies, friends, and supporters will find the training enlightening and beneficial.

  • Are there scholarships available?

    Yes! Funding to take this course may be available from your local PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, your county office of Behavioral Health, the Veteran's Administration and others.   • What education requirements must I have?

    To qualify for Certified Peer Specialist Training, you must: (a) Have a high school diploma or a general equivalency degree. (b) Identify as a Peer or person with lived experience. (c) Within the last (3) years, has maintained at least 12 months of successful full or part-time paid or voluntary work experience or obtained at least 24 credit hours of post-secondary education.

  • Does the PA Certification Board recognize this training?

    Yes! We are an authorized vendor for Certified Peer Specialist training.

  • Where will the classes be held, Parking, etc.

    All classes will be held in our Center City location at 833 Chestnut St, suite 1100, Philadelphia, PA, 19107. The building is a secure building with a staffed security desk. There is ample parking available on the same block and across the street. We are also accessible by SEPTA Bus, Rail, Broad Street Subway and the Market-Frankford Elevated Line

  • What is the training schedule?

    Saturdays from 9am - 4pm. Weeknights are Monday through Friday 5pm-9pm. Training begins on Saturday, 8/5/2023 and ends on Saturday 8/26/2023. Friday classes are live sessions via Zoom. All other classes are in-person classroom sessions.

  • Can I attend Online?

    The LGBTQ+ Specialization classes are online via ZOOM with a live instructor. The PA Certification Board requires that CPS Certification Classes be held in the classroom with live instructors.

Charlotte Andrews LBS, LPC, CESP, ACS, JD

Charlotte Andrews is a Licensed Professional Counselor & Professor of Psychology. She received a law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law to pursue an ambition to advocate for reintegration efforts and criminal justice reform through a mental health law and advocacy lens. Charlotte also serves as the Clinical Director for Black Men Heal which provides free therapy to men of color across 9 states and growing, and also serves as a professional consultant through her consulting and education practice “Journey To Lotus LLC.” Her treatment philosophy is "when we know what it is, we know what to do!" In her spare time, she is an avid line dancer who loves to travel, eat good food, and enjoy most spending time with the ones she loves.
