Course Description

This 12-hour course lays the foundation of Supervision in a Peer Support Environment, grounded in understanding of CPS roles and Recovery Values. This course includes SAMHSA's Core Competencies of Peer Support, OMHSAS Standards of Supervision for Peer Support, Kadushin's Social Work model on the Functions of Supervision, Reflective Supervision basics, and examines Trauma-informed principles in a supervisory context. This course has been approved for continuing education units through the National Association of Social Work- PA Chapter. Facilitators utilize various virtual engagement methods to ensure participants take full advantage of this interactive and skill-building course.

Andrea Landry, CPRS, RPS, CCAR-T

Andrea is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), a Peer Supervisor (RPS), a WRAP facilitator, and has a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She is a Mental Health and Wellness Advocate, Innovator, Award-Winning National Speaker, National & State Trainer with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), NAMI Maryland Hall of Fame inductee, contributing spokesperson within the SAMHSA National First Responder Training Video, contributing speaker in the This Is My Brave Play, best-selling author & publisher who was featured in the Baltimore Sun and in the Winter 2021 edition of BP (Bipolar) Magazine.

Lead Learning and Development Specialist

James Klasen

Jim is an Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator and Certified Older Adult CPS trainer. He brings over 35 years of experience from the workforce development field. Jim has worked with youth, welfare recipients, persons returning home from prison, and persons impacted by trauma, mental health, and substance related challenges. Jim is a CPS and brings lived experience sharing his recovery journey openly as evidence that recovery and wellness are both possible and probable. His journey has led naturally to his “encore career” as the Institute's representative to Delaware County.
